Derry Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has once again awarded the Town of Derry a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the Fiscal Year that ended June 30, 2016.  The certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.  Receiving this Certificate represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management team.  Additionally, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the Town of Derry Finance Department who had the primary responsibility for preparing the award-winning Annual Financial Report.

The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to insure that it meets the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the Town’s financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR.

“The Town is proud to have again received this prestigious award for the 19th year in a row, recognizing the Town for excellence in financial reporting to its citizens”, stated Town Administrator Caron.  “This independent, impartial panel review of our report insures that the Town continues to maintain the highest standards of financial reporting.  The compilation of this report involves a significant effort by the Town’s Finance Department headed by Chief Financial Officer Susan Hickey and Accounting Manager Mark Fleischer, along with staff members Bob McCarthy, Joanne Valdinocci, Lisa Gazzara and Kerry Harrison, and they are to be commended for this achievement.”
