Rabies Vaccinations
  • Vaccinations against rabies are required for dogs, cats, and ferrets 3 months and olde(RSA 436:100). Revaccination must be done every three years.
Dog Licensing - Procedure and Requirements
  • All dogs in the State of New Hampshire are required by State statute (RSA 466:1) to be licensed after the age of four months.
  • This can be done through the Town of Derry Clerk's Office.
  • Dog licenses are due by April 30th each year.
Guidelines for Dog Owners
  • Licensing must be done on a yearly basis.
  • Keep up to date with needed vaccinations.
  • Provide adequate food and shelter.
  • Keep a collar and / or ID tag on your pet when outside.
  • Make sure your pet cannot get outside of your home when you're out.

Derry does not have a leash law, but we do have a dog control ordinance, which requires that all dogs must be under the control of their owner. Dogs must not dig, scratch, or excrete on property other than their owners, under RSA 466:1.

Reporting Animal Bites
  • Report animal bites or scratches to the Animal Control Officer (603) 432 - 6143 or the Derry Police Department at (603) 432 - 6111.

Unfortunately, we do not have a budget or a facility for cats. We suggest you take an unwanted cat to any humane society or animal rescue facility.
