Spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event - June 8, 2024

Press Release - Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

The Fall Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event is scheduled for June 8, 2024 from 9am to noon in at West Running Brook School, Route 28 By-Pass. This is for residents of Derry and Londonderry only.  Residents who have toxic or hazardous materials such as pesticides/herbicides, fertilizer, oil-based paints, paint remover or thinner, solvents/degreasers, household cleaners, pool chemicals, old gasoline or anti-freeze will be able to dispose of these items. See the flyer for a more detailed list.

No Latex/water-based paints or used oil will be accepted.

The Town requests that all participants adhere to the following guidelines for the safe transport of your wastes and the health and safety of residents and the event workers:

  • Keep toxic products in their original container. The label on the original container has important safety and disposal information.  This helps the hazardous waste specialist to properly pack and dispose of the material. If the product is not in the original container, LABEL it with the contents using tape and a marker.
  • Never mix hazardous or toxic products. Many products are incompatible. Mixing them could cause a violent or explosive reaction.
  • Transport your items in the trunk of your car or bed of your truck and pack the materials so nothing will spill while transporting it to the collection event.
  • Stay in your car at all times. No exiting the vehicle.

In accordance with NH Department of Environmental Services requirements, no businesses or commercial waste will be accepted. This event is for residential waste only.

In the interest of providing the broadest service to Derry and Londonderry residents there will be a 10 gallon or 20-pound limit per vehicle.
