COVID-19 updates for Derry Parks & Recreation

We recognize the role the Derry Parks & Recreation Department plays in the Greater Derry area and we take that responsibility seriously. We can ensure you that your safety – and the safety of every participant and spectator– is our number one priority. We’ve been proactively monitoring the cancellation of games, closures of schools, and suspension of programming occurring in our state and region. The following is information about closures, cancellations and postponements that have been made at this time. The department will continue to be available to answer resident questions. Derry Parks & Recreation Updates:

  • All Playgrounds are CLOSED- This is a current reccomendation from NH Parks & Recreation, the CDC, and National Parks & Recreation Services. The next update for for playgrounds will be on June 5th
  • THE SPLASH PAD IS CLOSED AT THIS TIME- Next update for the splashpad will be on June 5th NO PARTIES NO GROUPS NO EVENTS NO PLAYGROUND
  • GALLIENS TOWN BEACH IS CLOSED AT THIS TIME Next update for these facilities will be on June 5th this facility is a DERRY RESIDENT ONLY park. 
  • The Derry Dog Park is closed and undergoing a makeover. Next update for this facility will be on June 1st 
  • SUMMER CONCERT SERIES HAS BEEN POSTPONED, more information to follow on June 5th
  • The tennis, street hockey, and basketball courts remain open with social distancing guidlines. --Please note, we are monitoring social distancing concerns and are addressing them as they are brought to our attention.
  • The Derry Rail Trail and Derry conservation parcels are open for walking and other activities.-- Please follow social distancing best practices.
  • Playing fields are closed for maintenance work but many expect to be reopened prior to the end of June 2020 following social distancing requirments.
  • All indoor facilities are closed and all indoor programming is suspended at this time.

Cancellations:
  • All activities and programming at Veterans Hall are canceled until further notice.
  • All fields are closed to the public until further notice due field maintenance.
  • All bus trips scheduled from now until September 1st have been canceled.
  • Leagues and Camps, please call the recreation office at (603) 432-6136 for assistance and guidance for scheduling your programming/field requests 
Adult programs postponed:

*Please make sure you consult your physician prior to starting any new health or fitness program. Healthy living kits are available at the Parks & Recreation office while supplies last.   • Special Olympics New Hampshire suspended until further notice https://www.sonh.org/ We encourage athletes and families to follow the SONH Facebook page for collaborative virtual programming. Registered Timberwolves members or those who wish to register for the team should reach out to their Local Program Coordinator to set up virtual programming options.
