I'm opening a business in Derry. Do I need a business license or special permit?

The Town of Derry currently does not issue business licenses; however, if you are opening a business in an existing storefront, changing the name or the owner of the business, you must complete the Change of Use form and return it to the Planning Office for review.   If your business involves the sale or preparation of food goods, contact the Department of Public Health. Review of the information you provide will determine if Planning Board review is required for your proposed business. If the particular use you are proposing requires a special exception or variance from the Zoning Board of Adjustment; review of the Change in Use will assist the Code Enforcement Officer in making that determination.  All businesses are required to provide proof of registration or Good Standing with the State of New Hampshire, Secretary of State's office.  If your business requires licensure from the State of New Hampshire, Office of Professional Licensure and Certification, licenses shall be posted per the OPLC guidelines, laws, and rules.
