Animal Control

The services we render to the public include the enforcement of State laws regarding dogs. All dogs in the State of New Hampshire are required by State statute RSA 466:1 to be licensed after the age of three months. Dog licenses are due by April 30th each year.

Derry does not have a leash law, but we do have a dog control ordinance, which requires that all dogs must be under the control of their owner. Dogs must not dig, scratch, or excrete on property other than their owners, under RSA 466:1.

Unfortunately, we do not have a budget or a facility for cats. We suggest you call Feline Friends or you may take an unwanted cat to any humane society or animal rescue facility.
