New to Derry? Verification needed to obtain a temporary permit card or permanent sticker.

Welcome to Derry!

New residents that have moved to Derry from another NH town such as Windham, may not be required to renew their vehicle registrations right away.  Most vehicle registrations expire on your birth month or have a lease renewal date. You are not required to renew your NH vehicle registration until the month it is due to expire.  In this case, if you do not have a Derry vehicle registration, a temporary permit card will be issued that expires on December 31st.  Please drive the vehicle that you plan to use for trips to the Transfer Station.  You will need to provide a utility bill or property tax bill (sometimes this takes a full 30 day billling cycle) proving that you are a Derry resident.  This delay in billing is most often why a temporary permit card is issued initially and not a permanent permit sticker for your windshield.

Once you have a utility bill or a property tax bill showing that you are a Derry resident, a permanent permit sticker is issued for your windshield.

If your NH vehicle registration is due to expire and your vehicle is renewed in Derry, you may return to the Transfer Station to obtain a  permanent permit sticker for your windshield.

Please see any attendant if you have any questions.
