Even during the bitter cold days in Derry it's exciting to know that we have numerous options to keep us warm and toasty inside and plentiful options to celebrate the beauty that is outside. Below is a listing of upcoming events, programs, and activities to keep in mind this winter! This list may change over the course of the winter so please check back with the Derry Parks & Recreation Department or the other agencies listed below as options and information may change. Call (603) 432-6136, visiting our website by clicking here, or visiting the Town of Derry Facebook page.
From us to you, we wish you a very Happy New Year!
Enjoy the outdoors:
Enjoy the beauty that is New England not just in the summer and fall but rather all year long. Residents and non-residents alike in New Hampshire can take part in some great winter activities starting January 1st! National and State Parks across the United States welcome residents to participate in New Year’s Day Hike's on January 1, 2018! If you are looking for a place to enjoy the winter weather you can also visit Hood Pond on Rollins Street, Gallien's Town Beach on Pond Road, and Alexander-Carr Park on Pierce Ave. All in Derry, these three park locations offer winter options to enjoy. For more information click here or call the Derry Parks & Recreation Department for updated Ice and Sledding conditions.
Last but not least, take advantage of the trails and conservation land found throughout the community. During the winter months, many times the Go Green group, supported by volunteers, will have guided snow shoe hikes to explore conservation lands. Stay Warm and Active Indoors:
The town of Derry has not only one but two wonderful Library programs. The Derry Public Library and the Taylor library offer programs for children and adults that support reading, learning, and growing as a community. Residents with a library card can also enjoy reduced fees and options for local museum passes.
Through the Derry Parks and Recreation department children, adults, and senior citizens have wellness options such as yoga, basketball, walking, line dancing, judo, and tai chi. For more information on upcoming programs click here!
Enjoy a free community Event!
Frost Festival will take place on February, 9th-11th with new and exciting activities being added each year. This year enjoy a performance from Wildlife Encounters, ice sculptures, snow mobile rides, and so much more! Check back for more information as it becomes available by clicking here!
Again, from all of us here, we wish you a very Happy New Year! Thank you for supporting your local Derry Parks & Recreation Department.
