Captain Ed King started his career as an EMT for the James River Emergency Response Team while he was a chemical engineer for the James River Corporation.  After eight years he moved to Oregon where he went back to school to become a paramedic.  He joined the Derry Fire Department in 2002 after graduation.

Over the past sixteen years he has served as a member of the CQI Committee, Safety Committee member, Wellness Coordinator, Department Safety Officer, and Training Coordinator of the Derry Fire Department Recruit School.

Captain King has a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Maine, an A.S. in Emergency Medical Services –Paramedic, and an A.S. in Fire Science.  He holds professional certificates as a Certified Company Officer, Trench Rescue, Structural Collapse, Hazardous Materials Technician and various technical rescue disciplines.

Captain King is married with two children and is a resident of Bow, NH.
