Transfer Station

Please note: the Transfer Station is closed every Sunday & Monday.

As of January 1, 2023 - we are no longer accepting leaves or grass clippings from contractors and landscapers.  This is similar to the brush policy in effect since 2015. Residents are still able to bring these items as long as they are generated from their property here in Derry.

Only household trash from Derry residents is accepted.  Under no circumstance is household trash accepted from other communities.  If you do not have a Transfer Station in your town, you will need to pay for private curbside trash pickup.

Mattress policy - effective April 15, 2022, non-residents and commercial haulers are no longer allowed to bring mattresses or box springs due to an upcoming Massachusetts ban on their disposal.   Only Derry residents may dispose of box springs and mattresses. The fee for box springs will remain at $5.00.  Effective July 1, 2022 - the mattress disposal fee increases to $35.00 per mattress.

Derry residents may bring sofas/chairs, but they cannot be longer than 6 feet.

Non-Derry residents may only bring items that they pay to dispose of such as C & D, sofas/chairs (less than 6 feet long) or scrap metal.

Mission:

To provide an effective and efficient way of handling the recycling and waste management needs of the Town in compliance with Federal, State and local laws. The Transfer Station operations will continue collection of household hazardous and yard wastes. The division will strive to find the most cost effective markets for recyclable goods and to assist the community through education to be as environmental friendly as possible.

Derry is a Recycling Community. Please Recycle.
